The nail specified for structural connectors: the twisted square shank locks into the timber and gives the pull-out resistance that joist hangers and straps are tested with. Use every hole in the connector.
A standard jiffy hanger takes 20–24 nails; allow a 1kg bag for 12–15 hangers.
